Thursday, March 23, 2000

Not too much of an update, but the new cell assignments have been announced. So, for all of you who have felt homeless and wandering since joining the Bears a week ago ... well, I don't think there are any. But we've still assigned you all to cells.

That's about it for today. Hopefully, more screenshots will be up tomorrow. We're gonna have to see about that ...

Wednesday, March 22, 2000, Update #2

OK. I'm definitely going to send out the new cell assignments tomorrow. Just had a little screwing around to do with the roster reports and all that.

In that vein, I've added a new cell listing version of the roster, which I would definitely recommend checking out at some point. Currently, as the cells are in a transition phase as we attempt to figure out how to best organize them, a number of people have not yet been placed in cells. This situation will be rectified tomorrow at the latest.

Also, the links on the character names are email links. Please email me at oboo@tripod.com if you do not want your email to be published here, and I will take it out.

Big update day today. Small revisions to the roster page. Due to a serious volume of screenshots sent in by Nananea, our wonderful guild photographer, there have been a number of updates to people's individual pages. I really do suggest you to to the Roster and for links to their pages ... also some good screenshots of Oasis sent in by Nananea.

Give me a little more time on the cell assignments. We're certainly going to work this out to the best of our ability, but I'm trying to figure out a way to make this system work smoothly. Anyway, will get back to you all on that by Friday.

Also, Toboo sent in a link to a great Enchanter's Guide on EQ Casters, which you can find a link to on the Class Guides section. Plus a few minor updates to our Frequently Asked Questions section. I would also like to note at this time that our message board has 42 registered users, between us and the Reach, and well over 750 posts. Please check it out. It's a good way to get to know your fellow Bears and Reach! Also, registering makes roster maintenance that much easier for little old me!

Tuesday, March 21, 2000

Another little update today. Redid the roster page, to reflect new members. Will probably be dropping some members whom I haven't seen in a while, but don't worry! You can always show up again and will be put right back up on the website!

You will notice, if you take the time to actually go and look, that several members do not have cells. They will be assigned cells by the end of the week.

Due to work, that's all I have to give at the moment. Hopefully the rest of the week will lighten up a little bit, so I'll be able to put some more of the stuff that I have up. Keep checking back, because they're bound to be something more up soon ...

Friday, March 17, 2000

Little tiny update ... thanks to Ellistyl and Twowolves for their wonderful bios, which are up now. Ellistyl sent in bios for her and her (in-game) sister, Lilu.

That's about it right now. Little guild foray into Runnyeye on Saturday at Noon PST (3:00 EST), led by Vyvyd. Also, we're still in the works for the scavanger hunt, which we'll continue to give updates for, and Twowolves and Nanami's wedding, which looks to be on Sunday, March 26. Speaking of which, this has been the most ridiculously postponed event in history. Anyway, I will keep you updated ...

Thursday, March 16, 2000

Geez. The world moves fast ... when you're slow. Anyway, Vyvyd ran a newbie event yesterday, and you can even take a look at the screenshots of it here. Much fun was had by all.

Also, I updated the Roster page yesterday, and again today. Some significant changes to that, including some last names.

OK. That's most of it, I believe. Happy hunting!

Monday, March 13, 2000

Well, well, well. As you might have noticed, there has been a noticeable lack of updates in a while. Sorry about that ... RL stuff just keeps getting in the way!

At any rate, Friday night was Kawaii's wedding to the lady Macha (the Human lady, I might add), and despite his marriage to the enemy, we all love Kawaii and are trying to be open-minded here. At any rate, the wedding apparently went fantastically, and had a great showing from the Bears ...

Saturday night was Twowolves' Blackburrow Clearing, which apparently was a lot of fun. Again, RL kept me from being there, but it sounds like there was a lot of gnoll-bashing going on, and apparently three GMs came by just to check it out. Word is that we ruled Blackburrow, and I'm awaiting stories from those present so that I can post them. Three cheers for Twowolves for organizing this event!

Lastly, we've made a few additions to the Rules section in order to address a few of the issues that have arisen and been dealt with in the last several weeks. Though I'm sorry that those involved with all of the confrontations didn't come out entirely happy, I think this sort of an experience can be and will be a growing experience for our guild, as we seek to determine our Barbarian identity and our true path to Freedom! Thanks to Twowolves for formulating the new rules.

Wednesday, March 8, 2000

Hello, everyone! Updates are coming later in the day, I think, but I wanted to let everyone know that we have entered a guildwar with the lying, treacherous band of hoodlems who call themselves "The Reach of Oboo." What is that, anyway? And what exactly is an Oboo? (For an answer to that question, please see our Frequently Asked Questions)

/ooc This is a mock guildwar. Just going to try it out to see how it goes, see how everyone likes living on the edge a little bit. A few provisions: please don't kill anyone will a DoT, as we're not sure yet whether that will result in experience loss. Also, please listen to someone if they say they don't want to fight. This is what is known as a "cry uncle" clause. At any rate, we're trying to keep this fun and sportsmanlike, and should keep in mind at all times that the Reach are our brothers, sisters, and friends. This is just a warmup for what will hopefully be more of these ...

Also, try and keep the levels somewhat even when you're fighting ... no fun to whoop on someone who can't fight back. Hope you guys all enjoy this! It'll last until Friday night.

Oh, and a few more notes: There is no experience gained or lost normally, though we're not too sure about how it works with a DoT. Also, apparently it won't let you loot, which is a good thing in this guildwar because we weren't going to allow it anyway ...

Tuesday, March 7, 2000

More updates on the Blackburrow event. Please go take a look at them.

That's about it. Oh, a quick question that you might want to sound in on via our Message Board: What are your thoughts on a Guildwar?

Monday, March 6, 2000

Let me see ... well, as has been previously publicized, Monday night is Fight Night in Highhold Pass! Please show up and be prepared to hand out some beat-downs on some orcs tonight.

As far as news is concerned, we have divided the membership up into cells. Each cell consists of six to eight Bears of Oboo, and is headed up by a Lieutenant. Please make an effort to get to know other members of your cell, and consider the head of your cell to be the first person you can go to in a pinch, though hopefully any member of the Bears will drop what they're doing to help you out, anyway! To see the cell distribution, please look to the Roster page.

Also, we've added another Class Guide by Najule, as well as another General Guide by Toboo. Lastly, looks like we're going to be storming Blackburrow this Saturday (March 11) at 7:00 PM EST. Please note that we're not really externally publicizing this event, as we don't want those darn Humans and Light Elves to hear we're about to reclaim our ancient hunting ground. Our boy Twowolves is in charge of the event, and I put a little writeup in the Events section.

Thursday, March 2, 2000

Hello! A few pieces of news before I get started.

First, our very own Vyvyd has been made a Lieutenant in the Bears of Oboo. Due to all of her hard work, organizational skills, and self-motivation, as well as the way she presents herself to all of Norrath as a proud representative of our race, we are happy to have Vyvyd among us.

Second, Cania, our very own master Chef (starting a show on the Norrath Food Network in the fall) and Mother Bear, has been promoted to Captain of Temple 1. Cania has been down with the Bears since day one. We salute her!

And, starting sometime next week, we will be instituting a new organizational structure within the Bears of Oboo: the cell. Each cell will be composed of a group of Brothers and Sisters, headed by a Lieutenant. The aim is that each cell can operate independently in case the entire ministry is wiped out by anti-Oboo conspirators!

Really, the aim is to make sure that all of our members have an officer that they feel like they can talk to, and to form little mini-communities of Bears, which we hope will make everyone feel even more at home as our brotherhood grows in numbers.

Lastly, and this news isn't quite as happy as the other news, March second means more dues. The dues scale, in case anyone forgot it since February, is as follows:

Levels 1-4 need not pay anything.
Levels 5-8 should pay 1 gold.
Levels 9-12 should pay 5 gold.
Levels 13-16 should pay 1 platinum.
Levels 17-20 should pay 2 platinum.
Levels 21-24 should pay 4 platinum.
Levels 25-28 should pay 10 platinum.

Well, that's about it. I've updated a number of sections, including the Roster, the Screenshots page, and some more Quest Guides. I'm also working on formatting a few more submissions and getting them in. Please take a look, and enjoy!

Oh, one last thing! I purged the roster of all members whom I have not seen in at least a month. I do this with the full understanding that I'm not always on, and that I may be wrongly excluding someone from the list. If, for some reason, I've just been missing you in-game, please send me an email at oboo@mailcity.com, and I'll rectify the situation immediately. Thanks!

Friday, February 25, 2000

It's incredible to me how I somehow continue to squeeze in updates to this page despite all the work I have to do. At any rate, the Roster is close to fully updated, though I am still looking for some information on some of our more recent recruits.

Two pieces of news I should also note. First, Kawaii has left the Reach of Oboo. You can check the Reach message board to read up on it, but he is sad to leave and hopes to see us often. To all of us who had the pleasure of knowing him, we shall miss him sorely, and all members of the Bears and the Reach have been invited to his wedding (details to be announced at a later time).

Second, Oboo has left Norrath on a little pilrimage. He is attempting to rediscover his funk and, in doing so, to help us all discover the funk within. Toboo has been promoted to Minister of FINE Arts in his absence. (/ooc Oboo has decided to play Toboo exclusively, as Toboo's qualities as an Enchanter add a great deal of depth to our ranks, especially in groups. The character of Oboo will return to help preside over official guild ceremonies and such.)

That'll do it for news! Lots of good stuff in the works, everyone, and I hope to hear from you all in-game and on the message board. There are some promotions that have been discussed and are upcoming, so keep on the lookout for news of new officers!

Wednesday, February 23, 2000

Just wanted to let everyone know that there have been a few updates to the page. Some of the screenshots that have been sent in of individual people are now up, and you can access them via the Roster. Also, the roster section itself has been updated.

Wanted to remind everyone that tonight is fight night in the Oasis of Marr! Please tag along with someone who's headed over if you don't know the way ... though the loot is a little sketchy, the experience rocks, and it's always good fun to have a little change of scenery.

Monday, February 21, 2000, Update #2

Couple more updates. In the Screenshots section, I've added a link to Vyvyd's screenshot page from the Crushbone Raid. They're great pictures, and I encourage everyone to take a look.

Two more Quests have been added as well, the Testament of Vanear and the Paw of Opolla. The Testament of Venear looks to be attainable by guild members now or in the very near future, and I think we can do the Paw of Opolla once we get a fair number of us up in the twenties, which hopefully won't be too long.

Monday, February 21, 2000

Hey, everyone! Well, all sorts of things went well since the last update, and I'm struggling to stay on top of it all.

The imprompteau newbie event went really pretty well, and ended, as always, in lots of booze. I'm pretty sure Cyfrost got sick on the cabride home! Anyway, we will be planning more events of this nature in Halas and Everfrost, so stay tuned!

Vyvyd's Crushbone Raid was a huge success! Lots of general Barbarian madness, a whole bunch of Barbies running across Antonica, and very few major mishaps considering the size of the event. Anyway, there were some funny confrontations with the Elves before entering Crushbone, and all in all I think Vyvyd did a wonderful job of raising Barbarian awareness throughout Norrath. Huzzah! Logs and screenshots most probably coming soon.

The wedding between Twowolves and Yukyo will take place in the next several weeks. We apologize for the constant postponing, but RL connection problems have been preventing us from scheduling anything that Twowolves has to be at. When his DSL is in, we're good to go, and, of course, we'll keep you updated.

Please keep in mind that tonight is hunt night in Highhold Pass! Reachers and Bears will be in attendance, and ringmail aplenty ...

Also, I've updated the Screenshots page with some more screenshots of the Million Man March that have been sent in. I'm working on updating the Roster page, but haven't really had time to do so yet. I apologize for the delays on that ...

Thursday, February 17, 2000

There's going to be a sort of imprompteau event tonight in Everfrost! Whoop! We're going to be dropping knowledge on the younger Barbarians, and having a good time while we do it. The festivities start at 9:00 Eastern Standard Time in Everfrost, so be there or be square! More details in the Events section.

Also, just wanted to say that I think the weekly hunting efforts are here to stay. A great time was had by all in Oasis last night and I think most of us will be back in time for the little event tonight.

Wednesday, February 16, 2000

Not too much news, but I just archived our old news, so we get to start a clean slate!

Also, updated the Events section to reflect our new weekly coordinated hunting groups with the Reach of Oboo. The schedule will be as follows:

Monday nights: Hunting in Highhold Pass.

Wednesday nights: Hunting in the Oasis of Marr.

OK. That being said, we're about all our of news. Keep on checking back in, though, because you'll never know when those screenshots of Vyvyd and Lilu shirtless at the Million Man March will show up ...
